Grand Cherokee L (Photo Credit=Stellantis Korea)© News 1The Grand Cherokee L, a large sports utility vehicle (SUV) that inherits the on-road as well as off-road strengths of Jeep, has appeared in the domestic market.
On the 7th, I attended the ‘Jeep Grand Cherokee L Media Test Drive Event’ of Sterantis Korea. On this day, the test drive ran 207 km from Gangnam Finance Center in Gangnam-gu, Seoul to Yongin-si and Yangpyeong-gun, Gyeonggi-do. The test vehicle was a Grand Cherokee L Overland trim.
The all-new Grand Cherokee L is equipped with a 3.6L V6 24V VVT upgrade engine and an 8-speed automatic transmission. It has a maximum output of 286 horsepower and a maximum torque of 35.1 kg·m.
With a total length of 5220 mm, a total width of 1975 mm, a total height of 1795 mm, and a wheelbase of 3090 mm, it boasts a huge size, but its elegant design stands out. The exterior inherited the design of Jeep’s flagship SUV Grand Wagoneer.
The front part is shaped like a ‘shark nose’ that seems to fall sharply in an oblique line. Jeep’s signature seven-slot grill design has been widened on both sides, and the lamps have been sharpened.

It was the first of its kind to apply a third-row seat, and it also secured enough space for an adult male to sit. The new Jeep emblem applied to the center of the steering wheel adds luxury. In addition, a 10.25-inch digital gauge cluster color display and a 10.1-inch map-in-cluster display were applied.
The all-new Grand Cherokee L had a thick A-pillar, so I thought it might obstruct the view. When I actually sat in the driver’s seat, I could feel the forward visibility was fine. The steering wheel is large and heavy.
On the road, I drove in Auto and Sport mode. When you step on the accelerator pedal, the light exhaust sound of the naturally aspirated engine makes you feel good. The Grand Cherokee L has an unladen weight of 2285-2,325 kg. Even if you press the accelerator pedal deeply, there is less feeling of hitting. However, as the speed gradually increases, it provides a sufficient sense of speed.

On the way back, we passed through Yangpyeong-gun, Gyeonggi-do for off-road driving. It wasn’t a rough road, but it was enough to feel that the Jeep’s off-road performance was maintained while driving on a bumpy mountain road. The Grand Cherokee L’s Quadra-Track II 4X4 system improves off-road maneuverability with low torque control with a 2.72:1 gear ratio. It also has a lot of power even on uphill roads.
More than 110 convenience and safety specifications show that it can play a sufficient role as a family car. Active Lane Management System, Pedestrian/Bicycle Detection Emergency Braking System, Rear Seat Monitoring Camera, 360-degree Surround View Camera, and Head-Up Display (HUD) are standard.
However, the Grand Cherokee L was the first of the brand to apply the T-map, which is disappointing. To use T Map, you need a mobile phone that can connect to Android Auto or Apple CarPlay. You’ll also need the Stellantis companion app. It is somewhat cumbersome to use when compared with other imported cars to which T-map is applied. I applied it, but it doesn’t feel like it’s applied.
The all-new Grand Cherokee L will be introduced in Korea in two trims: Overland and Summit Reserve. The prices are 79.8 million won and 89.8 million won, respectively.
