DS Automobile unveiled the ‘E-Tense Performance’ concept car, which is the culmination of cutting-edge electrification technology.

The DS E-Tense Performance Concept Car, which reflects the vision of DS, which has made electrification a core strategy since the brand was launched in 2014, presents the design, chassis and battery technology of the electrified model to be mass-produced by DS in the future.

The exterior of the DS E-Tense Performance was completed by ‘DS Design Studio Paris’. The daytime running lights composed of 800 LEDs, the front design featuring the DS logo with 3D effect, and the color sense that show an optical illusion that the color changes depending on the external conditions and viewing angle, such as a beetle, not limited to a specific color, etc. Presents the shape of the future automobile that is being drawn.

The powertrain contains all the skills of the Formula E winning team. Based on the carbon monocoque body that has proven light weight and design flexibility through DS racing cars, a 600kW electric motor (250kW front wheel, 350kW rear wheel) delivers a maximum of 815 horsepower and a maximum of 8000 Nm of torque.

The battery was also inspired by a Formula E racing car, and a battery developed jointly with ‘Saft’, a subsidiary of Total Energy, was applied. Concealed with an innovative immersive cooling system, the battery supports acceleration and regenerative braking up to 600 kW.

Thomas Chevoscher, DS Performance Director, said, “The DS goal is to apply the experience gained in Formula E and the expertise gained from winning international titles to the development of future high-performance electric vehicles. It will be a way to find the right innovative electrification solution.”

On the other hand, DS has been reborn as a brand with the lowest carbon dioxide emissions in Europe in 2020 after first introducing a pure electric vehicle in 2019. From 2024, all of the lineup plans to launch as pure electric vehicles.
