Jaguar Land Rover Korea expands its lineup of Defender, an ionic off-roader model. A gasoline high-performance version will be launched in Korea.
Jaguar Land Rover Korea announced on the 14th that it will start accepting pre-orders for the Defender 110 P400 X, a high-performance model based on the Defender 110 (long wheelbase). It is the second gasoline engine model introduced in Korea after the 2.0-liter four-cylinder model (P300). The Defender has a diverse lineup, including 110 and 90 depending on the body, 2.0 gasoline and 3.0 diesel depending on the engine, and 3.0 gasoline this time.
The Defender 110 P400 X is a combination of an in-line 6-cylinder gasoline twin-turbo engine, an 8-speed automatic transmission, and a 48-volt (V) mild hybrid (MHEV) system. As the name suggests, it produces a maximum output of 400 horsepower. The maximum torque is 56.1 kg.m. Despite the heavy body, it takes 6.1 seconds to reach 100 km/h from a standstill. Not only engine performance, but overall style was also differentiated. It received SVX DNA, which boasts the ultimate off-road performance, and added exclusive design elements and specifications that emphasize a strong image.
The dynamic sensibility was emphasized by applying Varvik Black color to the roof, bonnet, and bonnet finish. The diamond-turned-finish 20-inch five-spoke wheels exclusively for the X trim and orange-colored brake calipers also attract attention. If you select the extended black exterior pack as an option, the front and rear skid fans, grill bars, bonnet and tailgate lettering are finished with glossy black decorations. The interior is equipped with high-quality Windsor leather seats and rough-cut walnut veneer based on the Defender’s unique simple design.
The most notable part is the ride quality and engine texture. You can expect the smooth driving feeling unique to the inline 6 cylinder. As time goes by, the Jaguar Land Rover Ingenium engine is getting more and more complete. In particular, the 3.0-liter in-line 6-cylinder diesel engine released first was impressive with its heavy and quiet engine feel and soft suspension. This is why expectations are high for the 3.0-liter inline 6-cylinder gasoline twin-turbo engine model with excellent performance.
The off-road function incorporates Land Rover’s unique technologies, such as Terrain Response2, which can be set to off-road mode, electronic air suspension to adjust the height of the vehicle, and electronic active rear locking differential to ensure optimal traction. The Adaptive Dynamics Suspension System monitors the road surface conditions up to 500 times per second and automatically adjusts the variable dampers to realize the optimal ride comfort.
PIVI Pro, the latest infotainment system jointly developed with LG Electronics, is also installed as standard. Various functions can be operated intuitively through the 11.4-inch center display. The SOTA function that enables remote update of 16 individual modules was also applied. This is the ability to update software remotely. The navigation system is equipped with T-map Mobility’s genuine T-map. The Meridian Surround Sound System, which combines 14 speakers, a subwoofer, and a 16-channel amplifier, has also been added.
The domestic sales price of the Defender 110 P400 X is set at 141.17 million won including a 5-year service plan package (free warranty service).
