In order to advance the electrification of the automobile, manufacturers and suppliers need many electrical engineers. But instead of more, fewer graduates come from universities. The VDE complains of a gap of “dramatic proportions”.

Electromobility and autonomous driving alone create almost 1100 new jobs for electrical and information technology engineers every year. In the entire German economy, the figure is around 6200 per year. These figures were determined by the Verband Elektrotechnik Elektronik Informationstechnik (VDE) in its latest labour market study.
