Star Wars Battlefront: No further offshoot because Battlefield is the focus

Equal three new Star Wars games suddenly Electronic Arts has announced. However, there is no “Star Wars: Battlefront 3” underneath. Now, a report by industry insider Jeff Grubb points out that you shouldn’t count on it either. Because EA DICE, the responsible developer of the series, will concentrate fully on the “Battlefield” series in the future. Grubb later added on twitter added that a third “Star Wars: Battlefront” was actually never planned.

Respawn Entertainment is now responsible for Star Wars

Respawn Entertainment will be involved in all upcoming EA Star Wars titles. The studio is responsible for both the sequel to “Jedi: Fallen Order” and a first-person shooter. In addition, a strategy game is being worked on together with the recently founded developer studio Bit Reactor. The developer behind “Apex Legends” is so busy with several ongoing projects.

Why would EA focus on an in-house brand rather than another Star Wars game? The publisher wants to reduce licensing costs and thereby reduce the risk that comes with developing a blockbuster title. The well-informed Tom Henderson has already reported on this last November. At least the success of “Jedi: Fallen Order” encouraged those responsible at the company to develop another expensive licensed game.

More Star Wars news:

EA DICE is currently very busy with Battlefield 2042. New updates are constantly being deployed to further improve the performance of the online shooter. However, we still haven’t heard anything from the first season. According to unofficial information, it won’t be until March. In order to boost the number of players, which has already fallen, the “portal” mode are offered free of charge.

It wasn’t until December that we learned that the “Battlefield” brand had become a interconnected universe should be expanded. The whole thing could look like the “Call of Duty” series, which is being expanded year after year. Incidentally, Vince Zampella is now in charge of the management.
