Publisher Electronic Arts is disappointed with the performance and sales of Battlefield 2042.
Electronic Arts spoke about the “disappointing” performance of Battlefield 2042 in a conference call on its fiscal third quarter financial results.
CEO Andre Wilson said it had a challenging third quarter as Battlefield 2042’s launch didn’t live up to expectations.
CFO Blake Jorgensen also spoke of a “difficult” launch of the game and “disappointing” sales figures.
Regarding the Battlefield 2042 prediction, Jorgensen said:
“As originally forecast, the Battlefield franchise would have represented well under 10% of net bookings this year and well under 5% of bookings next year. We are revising these numbers, but you can see that this has little impact on growth in fiscal 2023.”
Jorgensen dodged a response to the sales figures, saying that the game accounted for less than 10% of sales and that sales were lower than expected.
Still, Wilson believes that Battlefield 2042 will will evolve very well over time.
