Where is it and why am I looking forward to it?

When Blizzard confirmed some time ago that you could not only work on one, but maybe even on several mobile games working with the Warcraft IP, the enthusiasm about it was rather lukewarm. The horror of a certain Diablo Immortal was still too deep.

In addition, mobile games did not necessarily have the best reputation at the time. Boring gameplay, cheap graphics and actually only intended to pull the money out of the players’ pockets as quickly as possible. This rejection by the community could also have been a reason why the topic at Blizzard will no longer be brought up automatically in the coming period.

Why don’t you hear anything?

The development was not stopped, as was confirmed in some places when asked. But why then haven’t you heard anything new about the WoW mobile game for what feels like a long time?

One possibility is certainly that the development is proceeding quite slowly. That wouldn’t be unusual, as Blizzard is struggling with the same problem with other IPs and games like them Overwatch and Diablo 4 postponement indicates. But one can also cause a shift in the other. Maybe they had to postpone the mobile game because it is thematically based on something in the world of WoW (buy now € 14.99 ) has not yet been released – due to the delay in development.

It is just as possible, however, that Blizzard is at the current point in time, since the company, like seldom before, is in the Community crosshairs are in placewould rather not come around the corner with an unpopular product. Maybe you’ve learned from the Immortal disaster at BlizzCon here and you’d better say nothing before you can present something else that picks up the typical PC gamer.

I’m still looking forward to a WoW mobile game!

Although most PC gamers are rather skeptical, if not to say hostile, about mobile games, I would still be happy to hear from them soon. It should be said that I certainly share the arguments mentioned earlier regarding the quality and orientation of mobile games. However, times are changing.

Mobile games today are a long way from being what they were a few years ago. Sure, there are still tons of such games that are not worth the storage medium on which they were programmed. But there are now dozens of examples of very successful and well thought-out mobile games or mobile implementations of games that prove that there is another way.

You don’t even have to go far from Blizzard, as they showed with the mobile Hearthstone version how well something like this can work. However, this was only an implementation. But would the game be worse if it hadn’t been released for PC first? And the first impressions of Diablo Immortal also show, even if many do not want to admit it, that we are facing a very good game here. So I’m very confident that a WoW mobile game will be of high quality and not a cheap 08/15 mobile game.

Addition, not replacement

And even if it is only semi-good, one must not forget that it is not supposed to replace WoW or take something away from the world of Azeroth in any way. There are different development teams and therefore different resources. Rather, an additional offer awaits us, which we can accept or ignore.

A WoW mobile game will not be a WoW on the mobile phone, as you can see here, but rather an addition to the actual game. & Nbsp;

It also opens up completely new possibilities. In the past, several games have tried to cleverly combine mobile and the actual game. The success was rather manageable. But what has Blizzard made a name for in the past two decades? That’s right, stealing a good idea that has often been poorly implemented, polishing it up and implementing it well. Why not go back to this principle and do it again?

In which direction could Blizzard be going?

I could of course just tell you what a mobile game I would like or want. And that’s exactly what I’m doing because Blizzard doesn’t give us any breadcrumbs or hints on how to host a game like this. The only thing was in an interview a while ago, when the developers said in a general sense that they are all big fans of Pokémon Go and that that would of course influence their work to a certain extent.

Therefore, the first and most logical would of course be a kind of WoW Pet Battle Go. We walk around the world, collect cool and cute WoW pets and let them fight other monsters or opponents. Thanks to the Pet Battle System in WoW, a big cornerstone would already have been laid on which one could build. In addition, the actual game and the mobile game would be well connected without taking away anything important from the cell phone refusers.

If the technology from Niantic is too expensive or too complex, it could also be removed from the augmented reality factor and made a boring, but certainly very attractive pet battle app. Why sit at the PC and fight pet fights against other players when you could do that in the train or in the toilet. I’m pretty sure that such an app would greatly liven up the pet fight in WoW.

There are also tons of other options. From hero collecting games to a collection of Darkmoon-themed mini-games. Everything could work fine in my eyes. In any case, one thing is certain: As long as the mobile game doesn’t become a boring copy of the AH app at the time, which was certainly useful, but is not a game, I’ll definitely take a look and probably won’t throw it straight off my phone.

How are you doing? Have you already completely forgotten the WoW Mobile Game and are mad that I reminded you of it? Or do you also secretly believe that it could be good, but don’t you dare to say it out loud, whether the prevailing opinion is?
