- Apple introduced two new MacBook Pro models at an October event.
- The Touch Bar is gone. Apple is also bringing back HDMI and MagSafe connectors.
- Battery life and performance are said to benefit from the new M1 Pro and M1 Max processors.
Rumors about new MacBook Pro models have been circulating since the beginning of the year. Apple is now lifting the veil on two genuine notebook highlights of the year. The MacBook Pro 2021 is here.
A fantastic number of connections for Apple fans
Since the introduction of the MacBook Pro generation with Touch Bar in 2016, criticism from customers has not stopped. Now Apple reacted. The Touch Bar gives way to physical keys including the classic Escape key. And the inventor of the iPhone is also moving away from the sole Thunderbolt connection.
14 and 16-inch models offer an HDMI connection, three Thunderbolt 4 ports, an SDXC card reader and a headphone jack. Fans are delighted with the return of the Magsafe power connector, which was featured on previous generations. Fast charging enables a 50 percent filling within 30 minutes.
Display: The webcam is in the notch
Thanks to smaller screen edges, the displays have increased from 13.3 and 16.0 inches to 14.2 and 16.2 inches (36.07 and 41.15 centimeters). Both displays – Apple calls them Liquid Retina XDR Displays – support the ProMotion variable refresh rate technology known from the iPad Pro and iPhone 13 Pro.

In addition, the displays offer a continuous brightness of 1,000 nits and a temporary peak brightness of up to 1,600 nits. The P3 color space is supported. As with the iPhones, there is a gap at the top of the screen, known as a notch in English-speaking countries. Here Apple installs a webcam with a resolution of 1080p. FaceID technology is not used.
Full keyboard and new processors
The innovative TouchBar never really caught on with buyers. Apple is now doing away with them and installing 79 illuminated keys including twelve function keys. The novelties, whose housing is made of 100 percent recycled aluminum, are unlocked like the predecessors with the help of Touch ID. There are no changes to the trackpad.
