This year, Apple apparently wants to bring a whole range of computers up to date. In addition to the 13-inch MacBook Pro, a well-known Apple expert expects the M2 to be used on various other Macs.


The MacBook Pro has not only experienced an upgrade in 2021 – with the M1 Pro and M1 Max, Apple has once again underlined that the step to separate from Intel was a good decision. Unsurprisingly, they are not returning to the former hardware partner. After the M1 generation, the next Silicon series is coming up this year under the title M2. Apple prophet Mark Gurman shared a few details about what we can expect from Apple in 2022 beyond the iPhone 14 in the latest issue of his Power On newsletter.

13-inch MacBook Pro also without Touch Bar

If you currently want to buy a MacBook Pro with the latest silicon chips, you only have the choice between a 14 and a 16 inch model. But if that’s too big for you and you prefer a more compact 13-inch laptop, you’ll have to go for the now somewhat outdated MacBook Pro with M1 processor. But according to Gurman, this year will Entry-level MacBook Pro updated with M2 chipwhich would confirm previous rumours.

Gurman expects the new entry-level MacBook Pro to be similar to the high-end devices in that that it loses the Touch Bar. But he counts important distinguishing features in the display, processor and memory. For example, the entry-level model must on Promotion (higher refresh rate) and do without mini-LED.

More M2 computers in 2022?

Not only the 13-inch MacBook Pro can look forward to the M2. Gurman says that too 24 inch iMacthe Mac Mini and the MacBook Air soon a new edition with M2 will be received. The MacBook Air could even appear with a mini-LED screen. Gurman predicts all M2 gear will be showing in the second half of 2022. It remains to be seen whether Apple will already have the M2 Pro and M2 Max for the 14- and 16-inch editions of the MacBook Pro, but it is not unlikely.
