Apple | Apple offers a remedy for low brightness on XDR displays on the Macbook Pro | macbook

Overheating could become an issue in some situations. What helps: window open, window closed.

Recent MacBook Pros come with the most advanced laptop displays Apple has ever built, but with those high-tech specs come some high-tech issues. In response to reports of low brightness, Apple has revealed ways to fix displays that aren’t working as they should.

Apple has

a support document
to address an issue that may occur with the 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro with Liquid Retina XDR display or the Apple Pro Display XDR. Apparently these screens can heat up significantly when the brightness is high for a long period of time and the room is too warm, causing them to go into sleep mode and limiting the brightness.

If you see the icons on the left side of the menu bar or in the Control Center Display menu, your screen is in sleep mode. Apple recommends the following actions to resolve the issue:

  • On the Macbook Pro with the Liquid Retina XDR display, quit any applications that could be consuming significant system resources.

  • Use the Apple XDR Display or Pro Display XDR reference mode unless your current workflow requires a specific reference mode.

  • Lower the ambient temperature of the room.

  • Close or hide all windows with HDR content.

  • Choose Apple menu > Sleep to put your Mac to sleep. Let your screen cool down for 5-10 minutes and then press any key on the keyboard to wake up your Mac.

Apple recommends contacting Apple Support if the battery saver mode and limited brightness persist and the room temperature is below 25°C.
