Demand for the high-performance laptops with the Apple logo is expected to drop significantly in the current quarter, also because the eagerly awaited 2023 MacBook Pro models with the improved Apple M2 chips may be a long time coming.

The PC market, which is generally stuttering, is not relentlessly overtaking the industry heavyweight Apple, which has been able to report above-average growth with its MacBooks in most quarters in recent years. This could now be over for the time being, at least if you have a current one report which DigiTimes believes.

Accordingly, the release date of the new 14 and 16-inch MacBook Pro models, which are expected to be equipped with the high-performance Apple M2 Pro and M2 Max processors, will be delayed again. DigiTimes refers to unspecified sources that no longer expect a launch in the first quarter of the current year. When exactly the market launch of the 2023 MacBook Pro should take place is not specified.

Furthermore, the sales figures for the current MacBook Pro 14 (from €1,929 at Amazon) and 16, which have now been on the market for over 450 days, are clearly suffering from the postponement of their successors. Insiders from Apple’s supply chain predict a quite drastic decline of 40 to 50 percent for the entire MacBook division compared to the fourth quarter of last year, which despite the usually lucrative Christmas business turned out to be weaker than hoped. It remains to be seen whether Apple can stop this downward trend with the delayed release of the MacBook Pro M2.
