Connections that were thought to have been lost for a long time, such as an HDMI port and an SD card slot, came as a surprise to many – even MagSafe is now back on board. In addition, even the most demanding tasks rarely bring the computer to its knees thanks to the performance of the M1 Pro and M1 Max. In all likelihood, the devices should soon receive a successor.

MacBook Pro 14″ and 16″: New generation coming soon
Mark Gurman’s “Power On” newsletter has long been a mine of exclusive information about the Apple cosmos. In the current issue, he not only goes into this Pro model the Apple Watch, but also gives details of the next generation of the MacBook Pro with a 14 and 16 inch screen. According to the journalist, the computers are already at an advanced stage of development and testing. The group plans to bring the devices to market “this fall”, although Gurman points to possible problems such as disrupted supply chains. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo anticipates mass production of the product in the fourth quarter of 2022 — in one tweet he grabs his again predictions on.

Probably still 5 nm chips
3nm chips won’t be available until January 2023, Kuo said. According to the leaker, the MacBook Pro with M2 Pro and M2 Max and the upcoming iPad Pro will continue to use 5 nm processors. The latter, however, received a slightly modified procedure. Further details about the high-end notebooks are not known, but it remained very quiet about possible design changes. Since Apple only worked on the appearance of the devices last year, the housing shape should remain largely the same. Also, unsurprisingly, industry insiders anticipate more GPU cores and RAM for the M2 Pro and Max compared to the M1 Pro and M1 Max, respectively.
