What does the MacBook Pro 2023 disassembly reveal?

The teardown of the MacBook Pro 2023 comes with few surprises, according to iFixit, except for the M2 Pro and M2 Max chips. The notebook is identical to the previous models.

The 512GB SSD in the base model is slow, sharing the same problem as the M2 MacBook Air with 256GB SSD, 9to5mac found. Instead of four, two NAND chips are installed and ensure a significant reduction in write and read speeds.

How intuitive is Apple’s repair guide?

The repair guides are part of Apple’s self-service repair program, where users can get the tools they need to repair their devices.

The program includes the latest iPhone models and all M1 Macs. The 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro share the same design as previous models, which is why iFixit used the 2021 MacBook Pro model guides.

According to iFixit, the repair manuals contain numerous safety warnings. Because when repairing, users are confronted with electronic components that can injure someone or possibly fail and depends on the experience of the user.

The Apple guide is pretty comprehensive and easy to follow, according to iFixit. One impressive point, however, is that Apple recommends the user place the MacBook’s display over the edge of the table to avoid touching the battery during repairs.

On the repairability scale, the MacBook Pro 2023 scored a 5 out of 10 because numerous components on the motherboard are soldered. The MacBook Pro 2023 teardown video can be viewed online on Youtube.
