Apple | MacBook Pro 13″: Apple presents notebook with new M2 processor | macbook

At its developer conference WWDC (Mac & i-Liveticker) in Cupertino, Apple not only presented the new MacBook Air in terms of hardware, but also an externally largely unchanged MacBook Pro 13″. 19 months after the presentation of the model with the M1 chip, the new generation has an improved processor. The M2 again has a total of eight cores, four of which are for high performance (P) and four for energy-efficient work (E). Compared to the M1, the CPU is said to be 18 percent faster. The number of graphics cores has increased from eight increased to ten. It remains at 16 cores of the Neural Engine for AI calculations – but it should work faster, like the media engine. The memory can now include 24 instead of 16 GB and has a 50 percent higher bandwidth of 100 GBit/ s up.

According to Apple, the battery should now last up to 20 hours. Unlike the MacBook Air, the new Pro doesn’t have MagSafe or a higher-resolution camera, it stays at 720p. The Touch Bar also remains.

In addition to the new MacBook Air 13.6″ (left), Apple has presented an optically unchanged MacBook Pro 13″ with an M2 processor.

One of the biggest criticisms of the first MacBook Pro 13″ with Apple’s own M1 processor was that you can only connect it to one external monitor, while the last models with Intel CPUs only had two. This has changed with the Unfortunately, the M2 MacBook Pro from 2022 is not yet done. It still only supplies one screen with a maximum 6K resolution in addition to its own display with image signals. Thunderbolt 3 remains.

The MacBook Pro with M2 starts at 1600 euros and will be in stores next month. The 14- and 16-inch models will continue to be sold with the M1 Pro and M1 Max processors.
