“Ming-Chi Kuo’s assessments are confirmed: Apple’s suppliers are now producing the new Macbooks Pro 14 and 16 inches in quantities that indicate that sales will start soon. According to “Digitimes”, production will increase from August to November to 600,000 to 800,000 devices per month. Apple is speculating that it will be able to sell around 2.5 million new MacBooks at least in the near future. Apple has not reported exact sales figures for three years. Based on analysts’ estimates, it can be said that the new MacBooks will be slightly less than will account for half of future Mac sales in the coming quarter:

Original message from July 9, 2021:

Contradictory reports are currently circulating about the possible start of sales of the next Macbooks Pro with a 14- and 16-inch screen diagonal. Some predict the start at the end of October or November, similar to the first M1 Macs last year.

Ming-Chi Kuo, on the other hand, reports
that the mass production of the new devices has already started. According to this, Apple is having its new Macbooks with mini-LED displays manufactured in the third quarter, i.e. from July to September. This also corresponds to earlier rumors from supplier circles, for example from “Digitimes”.

In contrast, the analyst does not set a fixed date for the market launch of the new Apple computers in his report. Apple basically has three options:

  1. Via press release without keynote

  2. At the iPhone Keynote on September 14th

  3. At an extra keynote in October or November, as was the case with the first Macbook M1 or the Macbook Pro 16 inch.

In his report, Kuo tends to an extra keynote in the fall, and Apple could only deliver the new computers weeks later, as was the case with the new 12.9-inch iPad Pro in spring. Apple, like the rest of the industry, suffers from constant shortages of chips and other components.

With the new Macbooks, Apple is expected to incorporate an improved variant of its M1 chip. In addition to the new display, the manufacturer will offer significantly more connections: an SD card slot and an HDMI connection. The Touch Bar is rumored to be gone. The design language should be closer to mobile products such as the iPhone 12 and the current iPads Pro. The new entry-level version is intended to replace the 13-inch Pro MacBooks in the Pro MacBooks or at least to supplement them initially.
