On June 24, Apple’s first M2 laptop from the new 2022 model series, the MacBook Pro M2, will be released. Our colleagues from Golem have already been able to test the new MacBook Pro and have found that the M2 chip brings some improvements in speed, but all that glitters in the MacBook Pro M2 is not silver. The models from 2020 and 2021 with the M1 and M1 Pro chip are still on a downward trend in price, which makes the price difference to the Apple shop and especially to the new MacBook M2 considerable.
MacBook Pro M2 2022 in the test: Not everything that glitters is silver

The Apple MacBook Pro M2 2022 will be released on June 24th and our colleagues from Golem had the opportunity to test the new MacBook extensively. It turned out that, despite the comparatively high price of 1,599 euros, some recycling was also carried out from the 2020 and 2021 models MacBook Pro M1 and MacBook Pro M1 Pro. The case, display, keyboard, touchpad and touchbar are identical to the previous models of the MacBook Pro M2. The reflective 13-inch screen achieves a maximum brightness of 495 candela, which is bright enough for outdoors. However, the color reproduction is too weak for professional users. The new ARM chipset Apple M2 of the MacBook Pro 2022 is clocked higher than the M1 of the predecessor and works more efficiently. Up to 15 hours of battery life are possible. However, because of the 22 watts, the chip has to be cooled by a small fan, which is noticeably audible under load. Although Apple has increased the GPU cores to ten, this is not noticeable in games according to the Golem test. Apple has left out an SD card reader or USB-A port in the MacBook Pro M2. Only two Thunderbolt 3 with USB-C are installed. This can be used to connect an external screen to the new MacBook Pro. Apple charges 1,599 euros for the new MacBook with 8GB RAM and 256GB SSD. You can also get the MacBook Pro M2 2022 in silver at this price from Amazon.
