At the end of 2020, Apple released the first Macs with its own M1 chip. Since then, its performance has amazed users and experts alike. That might just have been the tip of the iceberg. As Bloomberg citing inside sources, Apple is already preparing to launch new MacBook Pros that have the successor to the M1 chip under the hood. The first devices in 14 and 16-inch format should therefore appear in summer 2021. The new Apple laptops not only boast a revised design, but also a massive increase in performance and the return of popular features. If the current information is correct, Apple is equipping the new notebooks with a magnetic MagSafe connection for the charging cable as well as an SD card reader and an HDMI port – all things that the company had removed from previous models, to the displeasure of many users.

Powerful M1 successor
This backwards roll alone would be spectacular enough, but according to current information, the real bang comes in the form of the new chip. The M1 successor in the MacBook Pros is said to house eight high-performance computing cores, two energy-efficient computing cores and, depending on the equipment, 16 or 32 graphics cores. For comparison: The already extremely fast M1 has four high-performance cores and four energy-efficient cores as well as eight graphics cores. In addition, the new CPU supports memory up to 64 gigabytes of RAM, while the M1 is limited to a maximum of 16 gigabytes. A new so-called neural engine is also intended to improve artificial intelligence and the capabilities of computers for machine learning. According to insider reports, after the release of the upcoming MacBook Pro models, further Mac variants with the new chip will follow. These include a new MacBook Air, a Mac Pro with up to 40 cores, a new Mac Mini and a fresh iMac. There is also talk of another entry-level MacBook Pro. There is no official information about these plans yet.
