Due to a corona outbreak, the authorities in Shanghai ordered almost the complete cessation of public life. Since then, the production of the MacBook Pro, which is almost exclusively manufactured in the Chinese metropolis, has been suspended in the factory of the contract manufacturer Qanta. The logical consequence: the availability of premium notebooks from Cupertino deteriorated drastically and delivery times increased dramatically.

Quanta resumes production of MacBook Pro
The loss of production is particularly annoying for Apple because the top versions of the MacBook Pro have been in very high demand for months. Naturally, this could not be satisfied in the past few weeks. In the near future, however, the situation could ease up a bit: After the Shanghai authorities relaxed the corona measures due to the waning infection rate, Quanta is now gradually resuming notebook production in its plant there. This is reported by the Taiwanese daily newspaper DigiTimes. In addition, the situation is improving with regard to the supply of the components required for MacBook production. However, this is still limited, as the lockdown has caused a significant backlog in the port of the metropolis at the mouth of the Yangtze River.

Delivery time is still several weeks
Anyone who currently orders a MacBook Pro with a 14 or 16 inch display as well as an M1 Pro or M1 Max from Apple still has to wait several weeks before they receive their device. The company is currently citing a period of June 27th to July 14th as the expected delivery date. Only the smaller of the two notebooks is immediately available in small quantities in individual Apple stores. The MacBook Air will also not be available in the Apple Online Store until the end of June at the earliest. The MacBook Pro with a 13-inch display and M1 chip, on the other hand, is available from stock.
