The next new products will be presented at another event in October. The company is expected to focus on new Macs and iPads. Appropriately confirmed DigiTimesthat Apple plans to launch new MacBook Pro models in the fourth quarter of 2022. However, the report does not name specific models, but most likely refers to the next generation of 14 and 16-inch MacBook Pros.

The rumor mill initially disagreed when it came to the release date of the new 14 and 16 inch MacBook Pro models. Whether they will be equipped with 5nm or 3nm chips also caused discussions. However, a clearer picture is slowly emerging as far as Apple’s next hardware releases are concerned.

Apple is expected to hold an event focused on the Mac and iPad in October, so it would be fitting if the new MacBook Pro models were announced then. According to the latest rumours, these should be equipped with 5nm SoCs (System on a Chip).

Already in August Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reported that Apple is developing and testing the new MacBook Pro models with M2 Pro and M2 Max chips. According to the analyst Ming Chi Kuo After the high-end MacBook Pro received a major redesign in October 2021, the notebooks will only offer a few new functions besides the faster chips.

With MacBooks, there are usually several generations between major hardware changes. The current design includes a slimmer body, a notch at the top of the display, revived ports like MagSafe and HDMI, and more.

While the M2 Pro and M2 Max chips will continue to be manufactured using the 5nm process, they are expected to be manufactured based on TSMC’s newer 5nm process, known as “N5P”, allowing the new MacBook Pro models still show noticeable improvements in performance and energy efficiency. However, a larger leap in performance would come with the move to 3nm chips in 2023 or later.

The launch of the new MacBook Air with the M2 chip in July, combined with the upcoming launch of new MacBook Pro models, could see Apple’s notebook market share hit a five-year high in 2022, the report said.
