An unreleased MacBook Pro has surfaced in a Canadian government database with faster WiFi 6e.
Apple is rumored to be preparing a big announcement for January 17th that could include a product catalog update. Now an official entry has fueled the whole thing – this is a new MacBook Pro model. Wade Penner’s discovered Industry Canada Radio Equipment List database entry describes an Apple product approved for WiFi transmission on January 11th. The application mentions that it is a “MacBook Pro” of unknown size but with hardware version number A2779. According to Penner, the application states that the model supports WiFi 6E and the 6 GHz band. Although the actual model is unknown, it is likely to be a reissue of the 16-inch MacBook Pro or 14-inch MacBook Pro.
Will Apple update the MacBook Pro range soon?
If so, it could also be one of the first products to include the M2 Pro and M2 Max chips, a second generation of the M1 chips used in the existing 14″ and 16″ MacBook Pro models. As for the WiFi, the inclusion of WiFi 6E is an improvement as both the 14-inch and 16-inch models use WiFi 6. However, this is only an advantage if the users have an appropriate network infrastructure. While the updates to the M2 versions were expected for the MacBook Pro models, the rest of the changes are minimal rather than a major overhaul of the notebooks. The general design and key features are expected to remain the same for the 2023 iteration, with the only real improvements to come being the M2 Pro and M2 Max. (Image: Apple)
