Apple | Rumour: The comparatively cheap MacBook Pro with Apple M2 will be available on March 8th | macbook

According to a new report by DigiTimes Apple’s supply chain is gearing up for the launch of a new MacBook Pro in early March — a timeframe that aligns almost perfectly with Apple’s spring launch event this year, previously rumored to take place on March 8th. DigiTimes thus contradicts the previous rumours, according to which the first Macs based on the Apple M2 should only come onto the market in the second half of the year.

Except for the processor, the equipment should be different compared to the current 13-inch MacBook Pro (approx. 1,230 euros on Amazon) hardly change – again contradicting previous rumors that the cheapest MacBook Pro will inherit the design of the 14-inch model, albeit without the 120 Hz ProMotion display. Apple apparently expects high demand for this new MacBook Pro as the company is said to continue production even during the Chinese New Year holiday.

According to rumors, the Apple M2 has the same number of processor cores as the Apple M1, i.e. four performance and four efficiency cores, the graphics chip has been upgraded from eight to ten computing units, and the performance should be significantly better thanks to improvements in the architecture. Just like the more expensive models, the base model of the MacBook Pro series will also do without the Touch Bar in the future. DigiTimes once again affirms that the third generation iPhone SE and a new iPad will also be presented at this launch event.
