MacBook Pro 13 inch 2020 - Apple

The new 14-inch MacBook Pro could be significantly more expensive than the current 13-inch version. The reason for this is the lower performance difference between the two expected new MacBook Pro variants. The 16-inch MacBook Pro currently has a clear performance advantage here.

Two new MacBook Pro models are expected in the fall. Apple will probably introduce a 14-inch MacBook Pro for the first time, and the large 16-inch version will also receive an update and be equipped with the new Apple Silicon platform.

There are probably significantly fewer differences in the performance of the two models: Currently, the large MacBook Pro 16 inch is clearly superior to the smaller model in the final configuration, both in terms of CPU and GPU capacities, and only here is a configuration with up to up to 64 GB of RAM possible.

The new 14-inch MacBook Pro will be more expensive than its predecessor

It is still not clear what the maximum available RAM in the new small MacBook Pro looks like, but a well-known leaker has now provided an interesting outlook on pricing.

After that, the new 14-inch MacBook Pro will be significantly more expensive than the current 13-inch model. The price of the new entry-level configuration should then be in the range of the current high-end configuration of the 13-inch MacBook Pro. The starting price could be around $2,000.

The background is that both new models will be roughly equally powerful, since both are to receive the new M1X chip. So Apple’s calculation would be: more money for more performance – not necessarily absurd. The small model would benefit more from the update than the 16-inch version. This should hardly be changed in price.

The leaker had already accurately predicted the launch of the first M1 Macs and almost half a year before its launch also typed on an iPad with an M1 chip, so his forecasts should be taken seriously.
