Apple | The “real” MacBook Pro 2022: Apple’s release plans revealed | macbook

After the presentation of the MacBook Air and the simple MacBook Pro with M2 chip, the question arises: When will the updates for the “real” Pro machines come, when can we expect the MacBook Pro with M2 Pro and M2 Max? An insider now reveals a possible earlier release date.

MacBook Pro 2022: New 14 and 16-inch models already in autumn

As recently as March, it was assumed that the presentation would be next year at the earliest, but with a bit of luck you won’t have to wait that long. Apple insider and Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman wants to know that Apple is planning the new one MacBook Pro 2022 with M2 Pro and M2 Max this fall to market (source: Power-on newsletter).

Of course, this only applies in the best case. Due to the still existing challenges in Apple’s supply chain, a later date of spring 2023 could still be real.

The basis for the upcoming Pro and Max versions is the new M2 chip from Apple:

Either way, apart from the new and more powerful chips, you shouldn’t expect any major changes. After all, Apple has already thoroughly revised the basic design of the 14 and 16 inch models. More connections, MagSafe, a better display and an improved webcam were introduced at the end of last year. In this respect, the main focus is on the two Apple chips M2 Pro and M2 Max, which will inherit the M1 Pro and M1 Max. According to Gurman, Apple will mainly work on the graphics performance and be able to increase it again, equivalent to the “normal” M2 chip.

Looks cool, but don’t expect this for the MacBook Pro update:

Watch out: Apple is getting pretty expensive

Very important for us in Europe: Due to the ongoing depreciation of the euro, you have to expect higher prices. While Apple is currently charging 2,249 euros for the smallest model (14 inch, M1 Pro), it could be at least 2,499 euros or even more with the forthcoming update. There is no way around it, but Apple products will become increasingly expensive for Europeans in the coming months. So maybe you should consider buying a current model. You also pay less for it in stores, for example the smallest model is available for just under 2,000 euros (view at Amazon).
