With the release of the new iPhone 14 generation, we have already presented you with a number of accessories for the new Apple smartphones in the past few weeks – including accessories from NOMAD, QuadLock and Decoded. This week we want to present more cases and folios in the style of classic Apple accessories, from the Berlin family company Wiiuka. We had already presented some of the manufacturer’s cases in the past and were particularly impressed by the price-performance ratio.
For the new iPhone 14 generation, there are now matching accessories from Wiiuka. The company kindly provided me with a total of three different models for the iPhone 14 Pro: In addition to the leather back cases from the “Skiin” series, the folio or book case “Suiit” and the new back cover series made of silicone, “Skiin flex”. All copies are not only available for iPhone 14 Pro, but also for iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Max and iPhone 14 Pro Max.
Wiiuka Skiin: Backcase with MagSafe made of nubuck or natural leather
It starts with the Wiiuka Skiin, a leather back cover that is available in several colors and for all iPhone 14 models. I have it for my iPhone 14 Pro in the Skiin MORE version made of German nubuck leather in the color cognac, and as Skiin FRUIT in the blueberry version, which is more eye-catching in terms of color, made of German natural leather. The difference between the leather variants is immediately noticeable: the light brown nubuck leather is naturally somewhat softer and more matt, and small marks can be quickly removed by stroking the leather surface. The natural leather of the Skiin FRUIT, on the other hand, has small grains, but is actually smoother and shinier.
Even if the back covers are stylistically based on Apple’s leather cases, they have significantly thicker bulges on the edges of the display and a thicker frame around the camera equipment on the back. Compared to other cases for the iPhone 14 Pro, the latter seems a bit oversized for my taste. I would have also wished for a completely surrounding edge protection: Wiiuka leaves a gap on the bottom side of the iPhone for Skiin MORE and FRUIT. Both ski-in cases come with a MagSafe magnet ring and thus support other compatible accessories, and they also have metal buttons on the sides that have pleasant pressure points. Wiiuka Suit: Slim book case with stand function
The Wiiuka Suit is no stranger to us in the editorial office: I already had the book case for the iPhone 12 Pro more precisely under the magnifying glass taken. In the new version for the iPhone 14 Pro, not much has changed in terms of design, only the cutouts for the camera setup and the bulges for the side buttons have been enlarged or their position changed accordingly. I have the Wiiuka Suit MORE for my article, which, like the Skiin MORE, is made of soft nubuck leather.
I was already very enthusiastic about the Suit MORE at the time, because the book case not only has soft microfibre material on the inside, a slot for a credit card and an invisible magnet to close the lid, but also a very slim exterior. With the inserted iPhone 14 Pro, the folio is only about 1.5 cm thick – that’s really pleasingly thin for a protective cover of this kind. There is also a stand-up function, which makes it much easier to watch videos or make FaceTime calls. Due to this fact, you have to do without a MagSafe function with the Suit MORE – you can’t have everything. Wiiuka Skiin FLEX: Apple-style MagSafe silicone case
The end of the Wiiuka range is the all-new Wiiuka Skiin FLEX, a liquid silicone back case for all iPhone 14 models. The company offers a total of eight different color variants: black, red, midnight blue, elderberry, powder pink, apricot, lilac and mint. The silicone case was sustainably made from recycled plastics from PET bottles and, thanks to the soft-touch silicone, feels very pleasantly soft in the hand.
The Wiiuka Skiin FLEX doesn’t differ much from the Apple silicone case, which costs 59 euros in the Apple online store. Again, there’s all-round protection with raised edges around the camera setup, a bead around the display edge, a microfiber lining, and also support for the MagSafe standard. As with all silicone cases, the Skiin FLEX also magically attracts dust, so that despite the soft surface, a cleaning cloth has to be used from time to time. Apart from that, with the Wiiuka Skiin FLEX you get a high-quality processed silicone back case that is in no way inferior to the Apple model in terms of quality – and at a price of 29.95 euros Webshop from Wiiuka or Amazon also only costs half.
