That iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro from Apple were presented with the so-called “Crash Detection”. Recent reports based on actual events praise the vital function that can save lives. Nevertheless, the function remains problematic for some users because they use it for sports such as skiing or roller coasters falsely triggered. A new iOS 16-Update seems to mitigate the problem.
Apple fixes “Crash Detection” on iPhone 14
The software update with version 16.1.2 is a minor OTA (over the air) update and has been made compatible iPhones distributed with iOS 16. In addition to the usual security patches and some minor changes, Apple has pointed out that the update has optimized crash detection on the iPhone 14 models.
Apple’s “Car Crash Detection” is not a new feature. Google is the first major manufacturer to first introduce crash detection with the Pixel 4 smartphones in 2019, but compared to the Apple iPhone 14 version and the apple watch 8 didn’t get as much attention.
Apple’s solution also relies on newer sensors like gyroscopes and high-G accelerometers, which you can’t find on older Apple devices. In addition to hardware, fall detection uses software algorithms to intelligently detect if you are involved in an accident. For example, in the event of a fall or a collision with another vehicle, so that the emergency services can be notified as quickly as possible.
Apple seems to be improving the feature’s software with this firmware. However, the Cupertino-based company did not provide any further details on how these changes may help prevent false accident reporting. It is also unclear whether there will be a similar update for watchOS 9 and the Watch Series 8, Watch SE 2 and WatchUltra will give.
