Faster, nicer, better camera, better graphics: When it comes to rumors about new smartphones, these aspects are usually the focus. Apple’s iPhone is no exception. Speculations are currently revolving around the iPhone 14, which should be on the market in late summer 2022. And of course it should be faster and nicer again. But now another rumor pops up: Apple is apparently killing the SIM card!

iPhone 14: Apple smartphone only with eSIM?
Like the portal Macrumors reports that Apple has instructed US providers to no longer sell the iPhone 13 with a SIM card in the future, but to equip customers with an eSIM right away. This indicates that Cupertino will rely entirely on this standard in the future, saving the slot for a physical SIM card on the iPhone 14, among other things.
Apple iPhone: eSIM has been available for some time
Incidentally, the eSIM, i.e. the virtual SIM card in which the SIM information is stored on a chip, is nothing new for Apple: Current iPhone models, including the iPhone 11, iPhone 12 and iPhone 13, already offer the possibility , in addition to the small SIM card, to store his cell phone access data electronically on his smartphone.
