Iphone 14 | Apple News: iPhone 14 should finally get this mega feature | apple iphone

According to a report, Apple will finally bring the long-awaited “always-on-display” feature to the upcoming iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max. As it says in the latest “Bloomberg” article by author Mark Gurman, the tech giant will release the update with iOS 16 during the WWDC developer conference on June 6, 2022. Thanks to the feature, the detour via activation of the iPhone screen should be eliminated, making it possible to display certain information even when the screen is locked – at least with the top models of the next iPhone generation. This is how Apple’s “Always-on-Display” works

For many people, the smartphone has long since replaced the wristwatch. Several times a day the phone is pulled out and the screen activated to see what time it is. When the phone is on silent, the only way to check for messages is to look at the activated screen. That should soon be a thing of the past! In order to be able to read the time and other information from the screen in stand-by mode, Apple now offers the new “Always-on-Display” function. The feature is implemented as widgets that can permanently display their information on the lock screen. (Also read: The best smartwatch? The race between Apple and Samsung is getting closer)

According to the US journalist Gurman, the iPhone version of the “always-on mode” would then work in a similar way to the Apple Watch from Series 5 and probably also use the same LTPO display (low-temperature polycrystalline oxide). However, so that the battery life is not significantly reduced by the constant activation of the screen, Apple has significantly reduced the frame rate of the lock screen. According to the report, the battery lasts as long as before. (Also interesting: Apple patent announces MacBook without buttons and keyboard)

Another Apple gadget in the pipeline

Rumors about Apple’s mixed reality headset have also picked up steam in recent months. Now, a week before the start of the WWDC, insider circles say that the launch of the AR/VR headset for the equivalent of 1,800 euros is imminent. The background: As “9to5Mac” reports, the name of the operating system Reality OS was registered with the US Patent Office (USPTO). According to the experts of the US magazine, this is a clear indication that the device, which has been in development for years, is finally coming onto the market.
