In December we already reported about the current display problems of the Apple iPhone 14 Pro (approx. 1,299 euros on Amazon) reported. Green or yellow lines are displayed right after the smartphone wakes up from standby mode. These usually disappear after a few seconds, so users have speculated that this is not a hardware problem, but a bug in iOS 16.
Apple now confirms this in an internal memo MacRumors could see. Accordingly, Apple has already investigated the problem and developed a solution that will be distributed to all iPhone 14 Pro users “soon” in the form of an iOS update. The update to iOS 16.3 is currently in beta testing, but the release of this operating system version is not expected for a few weeks. It is not yet known whether Apple will decide to fix this bug earlier with a possible update to iOS 16.2.1.
In any case, affected users can rest easy and save themselves the trip to Apple’s support for the time being, after the patch is supposed to fix the problem once and for all. With no officially confirmed data, it remains unclear how widespread this problem actually is, based on the number of complaints Redditin the Apple support forum and in MacRumor’s forum indicates, however, that this software error is at least not particularly rare.
