Apple has just started distributing iOS 16.2 to all iOS 16 compatible iPhones. The update is comparatively large, not least because Apple is including a brand new app called Freeform. The app makes it possible to work together with other users on a whiteboard on which files, images, notes and links can also be collected.
Anyone who owns an iPhone 14 Pro (approx. 1,299 euros on Amazon) has the ability to hide the wallpaper and incoming messages on the always-on display after the update, while adding new “Sleep” and “Medication” widgets. Apple Music Sing allows you to control the volume of a song’s vocals independently of the music to get karaoke versions of songs. - Freeform is a new app for creative work with friends and colleagues on Mac, iPad and iPhone.
- The flexible workspace lets you add files, images, sticky notes, and more.
- The drawing tools give you the ability to draw anywhere in the workspace with your finger.
Apple Music Sing
- A new way to sing along to millions of your favorite tracks on Apple Music.
- Customizable vocals allow you to sing alone, duet with the original artists, or use a mix of both.
- Improved beat-to-beat lyrics make it even easier to follow the beat of the music.
SOS emergency call via satellite
- Feature for users to contact emergency services even when cellular network or Wi-Fi is not available on the iPhone 14 or iPhone 14 Pro models.

- New settings enable background images and notifications to be hidden when the always-on display setting is enabled on iPhone 14 Pro or iPhone 14 Pro Max.
- The Sleep widget allows you to view your current sleep data.
- The Medication widget allows you to view reminders and quickly access your plan.
GameCenter
- Game Center supports SharePlay for multiplayer games, so you can play alongside participants in a FaceTime call.
- With the “Activity” widget you can see what friends are playing and their achievements in games right on the home screen.
Home
- Improved reliability and performance when communicating between smart home accessories and Apple devices.
This update also includes the following improvements and bug fixes:
- Improved search in Messages allows you to find photos based on their content, e.g. B. a dog, a car, a person or a text.
- The IP address reload and display setting allows iCloud private relay users to temporarily turn off service for a specific website in Safari.
- Thanks to the participant pointers in Notes, you can see live what changes people are making in a shared note.
- AirDrop will now automatically enable the “Contacts Only” option after 10 minutes to avoid unwanted requests to receive content.
- Improved crash detection on the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro models.
- Fixed an issue where some notes would not sync via iCloud after making changes.
