The city therefore bears the nickname “iPhone City” – not without reason. The Californian company relies on the production in the Foxconn factory to run continuously. Disruptions inevitably affect the availability of iPhones around the world, albeit with a certain delay. The result is longer delivery times, which Apple’s customers have to accept.

COVID outbreak: iPhone 14 Pro production downtime
In November of all times, and thus at the beginning of the Christmas business, such a scenario is imminent. According to reports, Foxconn has been fighting a corona outbreak at its Zhengzhou plant since the beginning of October. The approximately 200,000 workers are no longer allowed to leave the plant because of the Chinese government’s zero-Covid strategy, which led to great dissatisfaction and allegedly to a number of attempts to escape. Foxconn recently announced that they had the situation under control and would deal with the effects, according to the company Reuters However, the situation is different. According to the news agency, it has information that the production of iPhones in Zhengzhou will fall by 30 percent in November. Foxconn is therefore trying to increase production capacity in Shenzhen in order to at least partially compensate for the decline.

Delivery times are increasing in Germany and the USA
In the United States, the difficulties caused by the COVID outbreak already appear to be making themselves felt. Delivery times for the iPhone 14 Pro (Max) have increased noticeably recently, according to an analysis by JP Morgan, reports AppleInsider. Two weeks ago, customers had to wait an average of 24 days for their devices, now it is 31 days. Both the Apple Online Store and the company’s stationary stores are affected. The situation is similar in Germany: If you order an iPhone 14 Pro or iPhone 14 Pro Max today, you will receive it between November 24th and December 1st, so you also have to expect a waiting time of up to one month . This could be extended further if the information from Reuters is confirmed.

iPhone 14 (Plus) is not affected
There are currently no delays with the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus. Both devices are currently available for immediate delivery in the Apple online store and in the brick-and-mortar Apple stores. This is hardly surprising given the reports of very weak demand. Apparently, Apple significantly overestimated the interest in the two non-Pro models (see ) and therefore has sufficiently large inventories.
