Iphone 14 | iPhone 14: Accident detection works so well | apple iphone

Like Australian news site ABC News reported, there was an accident in Tasmania on Monday night. A truck with a horse trailer collided with a tree stump, causing not only serious damage to the vehicle but also injuring the occupants. They were knocked unconscious by the impact. Fortunately, a passenger had an iPhone 14 with him, so the local police could be alerted and they arrived at the scene of the accident within eight minutes and could initiate further rescue measures.

According to the report, five teenagers were transported to a nearby hospital. Another person was seriously injured and was flown to Melbourne for better care. Two of the four horses being transported died in the accident, while the remaining two suffered such serious injuries that they had to be euthanized on site.

Meanwhile, the responsible police inspector Ruth Orr praised Apple’s accident detection. According to her, it was important that the police could act quickly, even though the people were unconscious as a result of the accident. This prevented worse things from happening.

This is how Apple’s accident detection works

In the iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Pro as well as the Apple Watch Ultra, the Apple Watch SE 2 and the Apple Watch Series 8, Apple integrated new accelerometers for high G-forces and an improved gyro sensor to detect rapid changes in direction. Together with advanced motion algorithms, they can detect a car crash. To do this, the company uses data from crash tests and real accident data. Noise levels and air pressure are also taken into account in order to identify accidents as precisely as possible. According to Apple, more than a million hours of accident material went into development.
