Iphone 14 | iPhone 14: Apple investigates SIM card issue | apple iphone

Apple is investigating another bug that apparently specifically affects the iPhone 14 series with iOS 16. iPhone 14, 14 Plus, 14 Pro, and 14 Pro Max may experience a “SIM not supported” warning and then freeze the device, the manufacturer mentions in a memo published by Macrumors, believed to be intended for authorized retailers and repairers is. It is not a hardware defect, affected customers should make sure that their software is up to date.

When the SIM warning message appears, Apple recommends simply waiting a few minutes to see whether the dialog disappears again. If this is not the case, customers should not restore or reinstall their device, but should contact the manufacturer’s support, such as an Apple Store, explains Macrumors with reference to the document.

In an older, public support document, Apple recommends that if you get the “Sim not supported” warning message, Activate the iPhone or iPad wired to the computer – but this seems to be about another problem that can already occur during activation. In the most recent problem reports, however, iPhones that are already activated apparently show the error message. The message “SIM not supported” usually appeared for devices that are connected to the network of a specific mobile operator via Netlock – this restriction has long since ceased to exist for iPhones in Germany.

The US version of the iPhone 14 series does without the classic SIM card slot for the first time. Instead, users have to move their physical SIM to an eSIM during setup. When migrating from an old iPhone to a new iPhone 14, Apple’s setup wizard automatically offers this, also in Germany. So far, however, only Deutsche Telekom has supported this process in Germany. Users should note that their SIM card will be deactivated as a result, and the new iPhone can then continue to be used with the eSIM activated for this purpose.
