How successful is the iPhone 14? Analysts have so far given conflicting assessments of iPhone 14 sales. If iPhone manufacturing partner Foxconn has its way, Apple has landed a hit. The company is talking about record sales in September, which is mainly due to the launch of the iPhone.

Foxconn sales indicate good iPhone 14 sales figures

Foxconn shared loudly CNBC reported that September revenue was the equivalent of $25.9 billion, up 40.4 percent year-on-year and 83.2 percent from August. The company thus achieved a monthly sales record.

According to Foxconn, this massive sales growth was driven by the “launch of new products and a smooth mass production” as well as by a generally high demand for smart devices. Foxconn does not name its customers in its earnings announcements.

However, analysts agree that this success is due to Apple. For example, Neil Shah, a partner at Counterpoint Research, says Foxconn’s record sales were due to “stormy demand” for the higher-priced iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. The Pro models have always been the most popular when a new iPhone lineup is launched. This year’s distribution of orders should go even more in the direction of Pro models than was the case in previous years.

For the Christmas quarter, Foxconn is cautiously optimistic in its financial report and reaffirms its annual targets. “However, inflation dynamics, the pandemic and supply chains must continue to be closely monitored,” Foxconn said.

There have been conflicting reports on demand for the iPhone 14. Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo reported last month that Apple had asked Foxconn to increase production of the iPhone 14 Pro by 10 percent. Bloomberg, meanwhile, claims that the Cupertino-based company has abandoned a planned increase of about 6 million additional units by the end of the year. However, the latter report says nothing about the split. However, it is becoming apparent that at least at the market launch, the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max are the most popular models.

Apple’s clearer strategy for product segmentation seems to have pushed customers towards one of the Pro models. How the sales figures will develop will only become clear in a few months, when the important Christmas business is behind us. The launch of the iPhone 14 Plus on October 7 also remains to be seen.
