Apple is known for keeping the names and specs of its new iPhones under wraps until shortly before release. Nevertheless, we probably don’t lean too far out of the window when we speculate that there will be an iPhone 14. But the editors of 9to5Mac go one step further. The tech experts claim that the Plus model will make its comeback in 2022. There are two good reasons for this.

iPhone 14 Plus: That’s why the name would make sense

The iPhone 14 rumors so far state that Apple will launch four new models this year. That would be unspectacular so far, because after all we were able to marvel at four flagships in 2021. However, industry experts like analyst Ming-Chi Kuo are certain that the poorly selling iPhone 13 mini will not get a successor.

Instead of a 5.4-inch iPhone, there will be a second 6.7-inch device, which has always been referred to as the iPhone 14 Max. However, since it is not supposed to be technically on par with the iPhone 14 Pro Max, but with the standard version, this name could be misleading. 9to5Mac imagines the line-up more like this:

• iPhone 14 (6.1 inch)
• iPhone 14 Plus (6.7 inch)
• iPhone 14 Pro (6.1 inch)
• iPhone 14 Pro Max (6.7 inch)

In addition, Apple has had very good experiences with Plus models. When the first was introduced in 2014 with the iPhone 6 Plus, it immediately turned out to be a bestseller. To date, it is one of the best-selling iPhones of all time.

That’s what the iPhone models should cost

The analyst Kuo quoted by 9to5Mac has not only commented on the model names in the past, but also on the associated prices. The base price, i.e. the smallest storage variant, should look like this:

• iPhone 14 – around 760 euros
• iPhone 14 Plus – around 855 euros
• iPhone 14 Pro – around 950 euros
• iPhone 14 Pro Max – around 1045 euros

These should be the US prices. In this country, the iPhone 14 models are more likely to start at 799 euros. At least that’s the case with the current iPhone 13 mini (here with a contract).
