Apple likes to use high-quality materials for its products. According to a report, the Californian company is considering a particularly stubborn alloy for the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max.

According to a report by the investment bank JP Morgan Chase, the iPhone 14 Pro (Max) will come with a new material. So stainless steel should be exchanged for titanium. This would mean some advantages for the user.

Worry-free with titanium
We already know that Apple uses titanium from products such as the Apple Watch Series 6 or the Apple Card, which is not available in Germany. Both products are often exposed to dangers in everyday life that can cause scratches or dents. Titanium has a number of advantages in this respect. It has properties such as a special hardness, which makes the material difficult to scratch and bend.
So far, stainless steel has been installed in the iPhone Pro models. In comparison, titanium is about 45 percent lighter. And while it’s twice as strong as aluminum, it’s only about 60 percent heavier. Aluminum is currently used in the iPhone 12 (for testing) and iPhone 12 mini (for testing) and ensures a pleasantly light weight there.
Why not always like this?
After all the advantages of titanium over the materials used so far, one might wonder why Apple hasn’t always used it. In its raw and alloyed state, titanium has the property of being very susceptible to fingerprints. Of course, that would not be a nice thing for smartphones. In addition, the hard substance is difficult to etch. This is usually done to make the surface look nicer.
