iPhone 14 Pro: It beats the iPhone 14 in these 3 points
09/16/2022, 08:00 a.m
The new iPhone generation is now available. For many, the question arises: is the iPhone 14 enough – or do you prefer the more expensive Pro model? The Apple smartphones in comparison.
The iPhone Pro variants are always a bit more lavish than the standard models. Even with the 14th generation, Apple didn’t let it go iPhone 14 Pro stand out clearly. The size and powerful battery aren’t the only improvements. Three features stand out in particular.
Processor: The Apple A16 Bionic chip in the iPhone 14 Pro
The rumor that only the Pro models will be equipped with the new chipset has come true: Only the iPhone 14 Pro and the 14 Pro Max can enjoy the in-house A16 Bionic chip. In it, a six-core processor and a five-core graphics unit ensure a faster and smoother workflow than in the previous model.
A small consolation for fans of the standard smartphone: The A15 chip has also received an update and is now supposed to work more efficiently and with better heat conduction.
iPhone 14 Pro: triple camera with 48 megapixels
Hobby photographers and video lovers will be particularly happy about this upgrade: A triple camera with a larger sensor is now installed in the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max:
- Main camera with 48 megapixels
- Ultra wide angle camera
- Telephoto lens with triple zoom
- Front camera with auto focus
The new sensor combines four pixels into one large quad-pixel. The camera captures more light, especially in poor lighting conditions – and shoots better pictures. For videos, there is the cinema mode, which records with 4K quality and 24 frames per second, or the action mode for smooth filming when moving.
For comparison, the iPhone 13 Pro has a 12-megapixel camera with ultra-wide and telephoto lenses. The iPhone 14 sister model also has a dual camera with 12 megapixels and an ultra-wide-angle lens. At least a double optical zoom is possible here, and the action mode also ensures image stability when shooting videos.
Display: iPhone 14 Pro with Always-on and Dynamic Island
Even at first glance it is noticeable: The notch previously known from Apple has changed! The front camera and Face ID sensor are still in the top center of the display – but now in a pill-shaped recess, as is known from many Android phones. If you receive a notification, the field expands optically. Applications such as timers or running music are also displayed there. Apple calls this flexible design Dynamic Island.
And another innovation: The iPhone 14 Pro models are the first Apple smartphones to have an always-on display. The lock screen only darkens (optionally) and continues to display the most important information, even when the cell phone is not actively in use. Users of the standard iPhone have to do without both features.
iPhone 14 Pro or iPhone 14: which model is worth it?
If you want to feel a significant leap compared to the previous generation, you should grab the iPhone 14 Pro. In terms of hardware, camera and display, the Pro and Pro Max models simply have more to offer. But it’s not just the features that outweigh it – the price is also tough. The iPhone 14 Pro costs 1,299 euros in the smallest memory version. If you can do without a slightly better camera and the display gadgets, you can get away with the standard version for a lot cheaper. However, the technical changes compared to the 13 generation are not quite as big here.
