Most recently, Apple had to withdraw the option of switching to a new HomeKit architecture: some users complained about setup problems and some were unable to control previously compatible smart home accessories (see here). The always-on display of the iPhone 14 Pro (Max) also needed some fine-tuning since the release of iOS 16 and can now be configured extensively. However, the feature still seems to cause problems for some users.

Lines after waking up the device
A bug is causing some iPhone 14 Pro or iPhone 14 Pro Max owners annoyance: When those affected take their device out of standby mode, one or more horizontal lines sometimes appear on the screen. In various Internet forums, including at Reddit and Apple, there are already several threads on this phenomenon. This may be a bug that occurs on devices with a disabled always-on display. Some users also report experiencing flickering for a short period of time. According to those affected, the error cannot always be reproduced; one user also explains that the phenomenon occurs mainly after watching videos.

Troubleshooting continues
Those affected who contacted Apple support unanimously report that it assumes a software problem. However, an update to the current version (iOS 16.2) and a reset to the factory settings would not be successful. A recent lead traces the problem back to panels produced by LG. Apple has not yet officially commented on this matter. It is also unclear whether iOS 16.3 will help: So far, the version is only available as the first beta build and there is no feedback from users with this bug and said iOS version.
