The iPhone 13 hadn’t even appeared before the first industry insiders presented drafts of a putative successor. The first images of the iPhone 14 Pro sounded like the dream of every Apple fan and showed a new design that seemed to bring together the best features of all iPhone generations in one device. An angular look in the style of the iPhone 4, a camera that disappears into the housing without a hump, and a display without an annoying notch. Apart from the last point, this look obviously remains a dream.
At least that’s what the new render images on the website suggest 91mobiles.com have fallen into their hands. The computer-generated designs are said to come from inside sources and show the actual design of the iPhone 14 Pro. The sobering realization: The upcoming Apple cell phone looks confusingly similar to the current model, at least from the back. A camera module that clearly protrudes from the housing, the same housing design – no trace of innovation. Only on the front are two punched holes for a selfie camera and Face ID sensors instead of a lavish display cut-out at the top of the screen.

Is the iPhone 14 just an iPhone 13 clone?
As graphics that appeared recently online suggest, the punched openings in the display are significantly larger than in other smartphones. According to the report, however, nothing will change in the dimensions of the Apple cell phones themselves. The standard models therefore continue to rely on a 6.1-inch display, while the Max variants come with a 6.7-inch screen diagonal. According to the latest rumours, Apple is cutting back on technical upgrades this year. While the Pro models of the iPhone 14 will get a new A16 chip, the manufacturer will continue to equip its basic versions with the iPhone 13 processor A15 Bionic, according to an analyst.
Since the simple iPhone 14 should continue to have the notch, according to current information, the question arises to what extent it differs from the iPhone 13 at all. All in all, it seems rather unlikely that Apple will launch the iPhone 14 as an iPhone 13 clone with a slightly improved camera – especially since the iPhone 13 differs only slightly from the iPhone 12. Even the tech group from Cupertino can hardly afford so much innovation. It therefore remains to be seen to what extent the current rumors will come true.
