For the first time, the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max have an always-on function, which means that information is constantly displayed on the screen. If you feel disturbed by the constant display, you can deactivate the always-on display.

How to disable the always-on display on the iPhone 14 Pro / Pro Max

This is how you find the setting to turn off the always-on display on the iPhone:

  1. controls the Settings app of the iPhone.

In some cases, the “AoD” feature will be automatically disabled. Apple lists the following situations where the screen goes black even with the “Always on” option enabled:

  • The iPhone is placed face down.
  • The iPhone is placed in a pocket or pouch.
  • iPhone is in sleep or sleep mode.
  • The iOS device is connected to Carplay.
  • A paired Apple Watch recognizes that the iPhone is not nearby.
  • the integration camera is used.
  • The alarm clock or a sleep focus are activated.
  • The iPhone is about a longer time not used.

iOS also learns some activity patterns to figure out situations where the always-on feature isn’t needed.
