“Apple needs to take care of this!”
The reports about the MagSafe Duo not quite fitting on the back of the iPhone 14 Pro have been piling up for a few weeks. users in Apple’s support forum for example, use reports and photos to show how the problem manifests itself in everyday life. You can see how the Pro model’s large camera module prevents the magnetic battery charger from sitting properly.
“The camera cutout goes down too far – hence the iPhone 14 Pro doesn’t ‘sit’ properly on the MagSafe Duo,” a user reported 9to5mac. The user’s demand is clear: “Apple must take care of it!” Currently, however, nothing can be changed about the incompatibility. The company even explicitly lists the iPhone 14 Pro on the list of compatible devices for MagSafe Duo (Apple Store: ).
Those affected only have the option of looking for other third-party charging stations. It is not known whether Apple will release an updated variant of MagSafe Duo in the foreseeable future.
Other iPhone 14 models not affected
The other iPhone 14 models are not affected by the problem. On the regular iPhone 14, the camera cutout is small enough to give MagSafe Duo enough space. The two larger variants iPhone 14 Plus and iPhone 14 Pro Max offer enough space on the back of the case anyway.
Similar complaints about incompatibility of the MagSafe Duo with an iPhone model were made last year. Specifically, it was about the iPhone 13 Pro, which was launched in September 2021. The predecessor of the iPhone 14 Pro could also lead to difficulties with MagSafe Duo – but at the time only primarily when the flagship smartphone was in a case with a larger camera cut-out. In that case, the only thing that helped was removing the iPhone 13 Pro from the case and then using it with MagSafe Duo.
