With the iPhone 14 and its companion models, Apple is expected to release a whole range of innovations in the fall. They and numerous other factors should mean that the new smartphones stand out not only technically, but also in terms of price from their predecessor models.
iPhone 14: note in quarterly figures
The tech industry has been suffering from the global chip shortage for many months. It is mainly caused by the effects of the corona pandemic and the resulting hard lockdowns in China. Because there are many suppliers, including Apple. But things are no better for those who have their production facilities in Taiwan. Because the ongoing tensions with mainland China are reflected in import and export fees.
However, that only seems to bother the Hon Hai Technology Group, largely known as Foxconn, to a limited extent. The quarterly figures from the Apple supplier give a foretaste of the prices that you can expect with the iPhone 14.
“In the second quarter, we achieved the highest sales and the highest net income ever attributed to the parent company,” reads one contribution the company’s official Twitter account. “Revenue for the first half of 2022 was NT$2.9 million. Based on the current business outlook, we are raising the full-year guidance from ‘roughly flat’ to ‘growing’.”
Prices rise by a good 15%
This news did not go unnoticed by the reliable industry observer Ming-Chi Kuo. Through them he feels confirmed in his previous forecasts. “Foxconn is one of the winners of the increased ASP of the iPhone 14 series”, stated he. “I estimate that the iPhone 14 series ASP will increase by about 15% (compared to the iPhone 13 series ASP) to $1,000-$1,050 due to the two price increases of the iPhone 14 Pro and the higher shipment percentage is due.”
The abbreviation ASP describes the Averge Selling Price, which is the average price at which a particular product is sold.
With an order share of between 60 and 70 percent, Foxconn is the most important supplier for the iPhone 14 series. As a result, the company can benefit significantly from a higher ASP of the new flagships. “No wonder Hon Hai is upgrading full-year performance from ‘about flat’ to ‘growing’,” said the analyst.
