The rumor mill is buzzing about the upcoming iPhone generation. Almost half a year after the presentation of the iPhone 13 series, more and more information about the successors is leaking out. Now there is new information about the iPhone 14 models.
Recently it became known that Apple may take a fundamentally new path in the 14th generation of its smartphones and not all models will get the new A16 Bionic chip. Which models we will even see is another part of heavy speculation.

Pro models larger than before?
Very early rumors assumed that there would be no iPhone 14 mini, as you can read in our iPhone 14 rumor overview. These assumptions now appear to be true.
The new iPhone 14 basic models are to be manufactured with display diagonals of 6.1 inches and 6.7 inches, as the 9to5mac website claims to have found out “exclusively”. Accordingly, the mini model will be replaced by a Max variant. This adds to the evidence that the next-gen lineup will consist of the iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Max, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max.
The resolution should match that of the iPhone 13 Pro (with contract) and the iPhone 13 Pro Max. Since the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro already have a 6.1-inch display with a resolution of 2532 x 1170 pixels, this alone is not a big surprise. It is not yet clear whether we will also get a 120 Hz display on the iPhones without the Pro add-on.
The iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max are rumored to come without a notch at the top of the display. Instead, Apple apparently relies on a combination of a pill-shaped and a round hole in the display to accommodate the front camera and Face ID. The two Pro iPhones should also be slightly larger than their predecessors.
iPhone with satellite connection?
Apple has been working on adding satellite communications technology to its iPhones for some time. Most of us probably only know satellite phones from Hollywood movies. There, the mobile phone with satellite connection is often the only way to call for help in remote regions of the world.
Apple seems to be working on getting its phones ready for a satellite connection and is said to have started sending text messages this way. This technology was already being discussed for the current iPhone generation. So it’s probably reasonable to be skeptical that the iPhones coming out in the fall will have this feature.
