According to Ming-Chi Kuo, the sales figures for the iPhone 14 Pro Max are particularly convincing, confirming previous reports. According to the supplier insider, the continued popularity of the Max variant may also have an impact on the 2023 iPhone models. Specifically, it is about a greater feature differentiation between the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max in order to encourage even more customers to buy the large high-end device. After Kuo had already reported on the high popularity of the Pro models, he now names the iPhone 14 Pro Max as a particularly popular model. Apple has already reacted to the popularity of the Max model during production and has adjusted production quantities accordingly. The company wants to respond to the expected customer demand in the fourth quarter of 2022.
Pro models popular, iPhone 14 lags behind
Kuo previously addressed the popularity of the current Pro models. In the pre-order phase, for example, the order quantity of the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max was at least at the (good) level of the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max in the same period last year. With the “normal” iPhone 14 and the previously only imaginable iPhone 14 Plus, on the other hand, customers are more reluctant to place orders, says Kuo. Apple has already reduced production of the iPhone 14 in some production plants in Asia in order to have more capacity for the more popular iPhone 14 Pro (Max).
More exclusive features for iPhone 15 Pro Max?
According to Kuo, the boom in demand for the iPhone 14 Pro Max could encourage Apple to provide even more exclusive features for the Max version in the future. This is intended to further increase customer interest in the large top model. In addition, the Pro models are more distinguishable from each other. Apple is hoping for even more lucrative sales with the most expensive iPhone variant. There were already corresponding plans – but the boom in the iPhone 14 Pro Max should make the forecast strategy even more likely.
Bloomberg has also already reported a stronger differentiation between iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. Even a new name is under discussion to distinguish the large model from the smaller iPhone Pro: “iPhone 15 Ultra”. With the Apple Watch, Apple is already using an Ultra model to emphasize its high-end status.
