With the MagSafe Duo For some time now, Apple has offered a compact dual charging station for a MagSafe-compatible iPhone and an Apple Watch, which is particularly useful when travelling. In combination with an iPhone 14 Pro, however, problems arise: Due to the camera setup on the back of the device, which has become even larger, the iPhone 14 Pro no longer lies flat on the MagSafe plate of the charger.
There were also problems with the iPhone 13 Pro in combination with a cover that the device no longer lay flat on the MagSafe charging pad. The well-known YouTuber Marques Brownlee also pointed out the incompatibility of the iPhone 13 Pro with Apple’s MagSafe Duo.

With the release of the iPhone 14 Pro, the situation has worsened again due to the larger camera equipment on the back. in the Apple support forum the posts of frustrated users who can no longer properly place their new iPhone 14 Pro on the MagSafe Duo charger are increasing. With an iPhone 14 or iPhone 14 Pro Max, there are no camera and device size issues.
You might think it’s just a visual issue. However, for optimal charging performance, the iPhone should lie completely on the charging pad and be aligned exactly with the magnets. Apple also provides corresponding information in the support documents that improper hanging up can possibly lead to charging problems.
On Apple’s support forum, a Community Specialist named green500 states, “We recommend that you return the MagSafe Duo charger for a refund as it is not compatible with the iPhone 14 series.” Apple online store specified as compatible with the MagSafe Duo. The question is – for how much longer?
