Iphone 14 | OLED displays for the iPhone 14 are becoming scarce even before launch | apple iphone

Even before the launch of the iPhone 14, there are said to be problems with the supply chain. According to one report of “The Elec”, the Chinese supplier BOE cannot supply enough OLED panels for Apple’s new smartphone. The reason for this is the lack of chips. BOE obtains the display driver ICs for the OLED panels from the South Korean chip manufacturer LX Semicon. However, this cannot meet the demand. The production problems should therefore continue into March.

For the production of iPhone displays, Apple relies on Samsung and LG and now also on BOE. Apple is said to have ordered around 10 million OLED panels from BOE in the first half of 2022, while other sources say that BOE expects to ship around 40 million OLED panels for the iPhone 14 to Apple in the current year. According to “The Elec”, BOE should now only be able to deliver almost 30 million OLED panels. (luc)
