The photo specialists from DxOMark took a close look at the Pixel 7 Pro. The result: In terms of camera, the new premium phone from Google performs better than the iPhone 14 Pro.
The distance is extremely small. Just one point separates the Pixel 7 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro in the final rating from each other. Google’s high-end smartphone has 147 points, Apple’s premium model 146 points. With the Honor Magic4 Ultimate, the previous leader in the ranking, the Pixel 7 Pro is now equal.
Pixel 7 Pro: zoom and colors are convincing
The testers were convinced by DxOMark Among other things, the zoom function of the Pixel 7 Pro. The telephoto lens offers 5x optical zoom with a maximum resolution of 48 megapixels. The Google phone also shows natural colors and good contrast across all four cameras. And not just for photos, but also for videos.
The autofocus, which reliably tracks faces and ensures shake-free snapshots, also delivers excellent results. In videos, the testers were again impressed by the optical and electronic image stabilization.
Pixel 7 Pro: deductions for the front camera
The Pixel 7 Pro only gets slight deductions from DxOMark in poor lighting conditions. There is some noise in the image here. Another point: Faces are sometimes out of focus when taking selfies with the front camera, especially in close-ups. Accordingly, the iPhone 14 Pro performs better in the selfie cam than the new Pixel phone and is still at the top in the front camera ranking.
According to DxOMark, however, the new generation has made a significant leap compared to its direct predecessor, the Pixel 6 Pro. The premium model from last year only made it to 12th place in the top list and is therefore not even among the top ten smartphones. Meanwhile, Apple’s last year’s models – the iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max – remain in fifth place on the chart. Let’s see how long the Pixel 7 Pro can claim the royal crown.
