Adobe released an update for Lightroom, Lightroom Classic and Adobe Camera RAW at the end of October, expanding camera support with three of the most exciting smartphone series for photography enthusiasts. Because after this update, Adobe’s software can DNG RAW files of all four models of the iPhone 14 series, the Google Pixel 7 (about 650 euros on Amazon) and Pixel 7 Pro and Sony Xperia 5 IV.
the List of supported cameras has included the Sony Xperia 1 IV for quite some time, but finally users of Sony’s not-so-expensive flagship can expect full compatibility of their photos with Adobe apps. DNG files can also be opened by unsupported cameras, but in this case photos may not be displayed correctly. Adobe Camera RAW guarantees compatibility with Photoshop CC, Photoshop Elements, After Effects and Adobe Bridge.
After RAW files from the Google Pixel 6 series have only been supported since December 2021, Adobe reacted much faster after the Pixel 7 was launched. Although this supports the color profiles of the Pixel 7 and the Pixel 7 Pro, Adobe does not offer any lens profiles for the smartphone cameras, so that lens distortions or vignetting cannot be corrected automatically. To take advantage of the new RAW support, Adobe Camera RAW must be updated to version 15.0, Lightroom to version 6.0, or Lightroom Classic to version 12.0.
