Veteran analyst Ming-Chi Kuo disagrees with yesterday’s DigiTimes report and doesn’t anticipate a cut in order volumes for the upcoming Apple iPhone 14.
Slight adjustments to the iPhone delivery forecast are normal for Apple and also include newer models before mass production.
What did Kuo say?
The well-known analyst doubts the current DigiTimes report, according to which iPhone 14 orders at TSMC have been reduced by 10 percent. He wrote in a post on Twitter that the iPhone 14 parts and EMS shipping forecast would remain the same, he reported earlier in the week.
Kuo said in the tweet that Apple’s slight adjustments to iPhone shipping forecasts are common, including new pre-mass models. The analyst added that the company usually doesn’t change delivery forecasts for new iPhones significantly before new models are released and real market demand is confirmed.
As he concluded in his post, when a supply chain issue causes a noticeable change in the shipping schedule of new iPhones ahead of mass production, Apple typically postpones orders rather than cutting them.
Apple 14 iPhone cut
the DigiTimes had yesterday reported orders for the iPhone 14 cut by 10 percent despite strong demand.
The problem began, according to the report, when Apple’s contract manufacturer TSMC asked three major customers to adjust their orders and resulted in a deterioration in the semiconductor situation.
The iPhone 14 will be presented in autumn, with four models to come onto the market. According to Kuo, shipments could reach 90 million to 100 million in the second half of the year.
