Just like the products to be raffled further down.

I freely admit to being a fan of the carbon cases for the iPhone. I’ve been using a case like this to protect my iPhones in everyday life since the iPhone 6. Over the years I have tried other cases and bumpers, but in the end I always ended up with a carbon case.

The reasons are as varied as they are simple:

+ It is a hand flatterer without annoying edges
+ has a permanently matt surface and offers better grip
+ feels warmer than metal or glass
+ is extremely stable, proven highly effective protection for edges and back
+ has a proven high resistance to wear and scratches
+ is very light and thin, is not noticeably bulky
+ is insensitive to fingerprints
+ The keys do not protrude and are well protected
+ Lenses are optimally protected
+ Supplemented by a display protective glass, it offers real all-round protection
+ “Stealthy look”
+ Wireless charging possible
+ Compatible with magnetic holders/MagSafe
+ optionally available with or without magnetic ring for even better hold
+ Made in Germany (Filono Carbon Case)

On the other hand, there are only a few things that speak against the carbon case. The price is quite high for a protective cover at up to almost 105 euros (depending on the version). The vast majority of offers do not cost more than maybe ten to 30 euros. Also, not everyone likes the look that turns the iPhone into an almost completely black bar. The carbon case is also not suitable as a fashion item for other reasons, because it is not so easy to change. A quick “re-dress” with a different case is hardly possible. The carbon case is made to stay on the iPhone and is usually only removed again when the iPhone is changed and the SIM card has to be removed.

In order to attract even more potential customers, Filono has been offering an alternative for some time with the Aramid Case. I already have a closer comparison of carbon and aramid case published here for the iPhone 12 Pro.

The following features distinguish the aramid from the carbon case:

  • It is significantly cheaper with prices between approx. 70 and 85 euros.
  • The surface looks like a carbon fabric, but is not quite as deep black, more anthracite.
  • The aramid is also very resistant to scratches, but not quite as much as the carbon.
  • On the one hand, the surface is a bit smoother, but at the same time it has a better grip. It feels softer and even warmer than carbon.
  • The assembly/disassembly is also not intended for quick changes, but is easier than with carbon.
  • The side buttons of the iPhone are more generously cut out on the aramid, which means they are somewhat less protected.
  • The camera island of the iPhone 14 / Pro has a steeper edge with the aramid.

As a third option, Filono has recently started offering an even cheaper case alternative. That “Hybrid” The protective cover mentioned costs between 60 and 70 euros for the iPhone 13 and 14, depending on the variant. A material mix of partly real carbon fibers and high-performance plastic is used. The camera island is completely left out here instead of enclosing the lenses individually, but the optics are still protected by a kind of surrounding edge. With its two-tone design, it offers a somewhat more eye-catching look than carbon or aramid.

In addition, the Filono range includes a very discreet and practical magnetic car holder. Of the Magnet Holder Q is available with different adapters for different types of ventilation grilles. In combination with the new magnet system in the carbon case – in the same layout as the MagSafe magnet system from Apple – the iPhone really holds tight. The magnetic holder Q also holds Filono Aramid cases as well as the iPhone directly or other MagSafe-compatible cases.

With the magnetic holder Q, Filono offers a discreet magnetic holder for cars.

Finally, Filono offers suitable protective glasses on. Their use literally and figuratively rounds off the package by creating a smoother edge transition and of course further increasing protection.

Filono is developing further accessories.
