Despite the larger sensor, image noise remains an issue, as the comparison image above clearly shows. In particularly wide dynamic range scenes, highlights are often overexposed, while the iPhone 14’s camera has ghosting issues and color shifts. DxOMark also criticizes the lack of macro mode and the color display of videos in low light, which often has an orange cast.
All in all, the performance is enough for a result of 133 points, which puts the iPhone 14 in 16th place leaderboard lands. That’s not nearly enough to compete with flagships like the Google Pixel 7 Pro or even the Huawei P50 Pro, but at least the iPhone 14 can achieve a better result than the European Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra (approx. 990 euros on Amazon), which could only achieve 131 points.
